Micro-credentials like Graduate Certificates are emerging as badges of honor in the workplace or as an educational pathway to further education in engineering.

It is an excellent way for working engineers to upskill, or for graduates to add to their academic portfolio and be job-ready.

Nine New Courses With EIT

EIT is introducing 9 new industry-oriented Graduate Certificates aimed at those who want to advance their education or career prospects.

Studying a Graduate Certificate will give you specialist skills in your professional field, and can open doors to new and exciting career opportunities. The 6-month courses equip students with the skills to address the growing demands of industry:

The units in the Graduate Certificates are drawn from EIT’s Master of Engineering programs. This means if you choose to pursue a Master's after completion of a Graduate Certification, you may be able to apply for credit for the units that you have already completed.

Why Study a Graduate Certificate With EIT?

Graduate Certificates are delivered via EIT’s unique online delivery methodology. Students can connect with other students as well as lecturers in real-time during live and interactive tutorials.

EIT prides itself with state-of-the-art technologies, which includes remote laboratories and simulation software for students to hone their practical knowledge that can be directly applied in workplace settings.

Covid-19 has made a significant impact. One paper states that the latest acceleration of enrolment for courses like Graduate Certificates has emerged as a solution for rapid up-skilling that is needed for economic recovery worldwide post Covid-19.

The academic paper, The move to micro-credentials exposes the deficiencies of existing credentials, makes mention that short online courses in high-demand fields were announced as a key strategy in the Australian Government’s Higher Education relief package.

These courses are meant to retrain and upskill employees. Most importantly, micro-credentials are more flexible in terms of providing outcomes in specific areas or fields.

Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP)

These 9 new Graduate Certificate courses are supported by the Australian Government via a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP).

Enrolling in a CSP means the Australian Government pays for part of your course. To be eligible for a CSP, you must be one of the following:

An Australian citizen, who will live and study in Australia for some of the course; or A New Zealand citizen, who will live and study in Australia for the whole course; or A permanent visa holder, who will live and study in Australia for the whole course.

The student contribution amount for a CSP in this course is $500 ($125 per unit).

Eligible students can defer their student contribution payment through HECS‑HELP. Eligibility requirements for deferring payment through HECS-HELP apply. Further information can be accessed here

There has never been a better time to get a start on your studying journey.
