Just a few years ago IDC Technologies decided to trial the concept of offering a selection of its engineering and technology courses via distance education using the latest live video and web conferencing e-Learning techniques. Demand for these courses has grown by an average of 117% growth rate over each of the past 3 years - pretty exciting results for a “trial concept” considering many industries have struggled through the GFC.
IDC has now launched this trial concept into The Engineering Institute of Technology to focus on advanced distance learning in engineering and technology in areas such as industrial automation, electrical and mechanical engineering and industrial IT. The EIT is intended to aid career advancement for trades-people, technicians and engineers that have limited time to go onto a campus, want real world practical courses (such as accredited certificates and advanced diplomas) and want to get the maximum most cost efficient return for their hard earned dollars.
Professor Steve Mackay, engineering dean of the college, stated: “The EIT offers engineering certifications, delivered in live online sessions with practical course content by world class experienced instructors – effectively presented as if you are in the classroom talking to your instructor. This is very exciting because it provides students with the benefits of live classroom based study in a more efficient, flexible and cost effective manner.”
The new Engineering Institute of Technology has been recognised by major international engineering organisations, including IEEE, ECSA and the Australian Government, building upon the solid foundation started by IDC Technologies.
