Dr Milind Siddhpura has substantial and internationally-significant experience in Engineering while working as an academic in top Australian and overseas Universities as well as in VET sector for more than 13 years. He has accomplished a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Western Australia (UWA) and has won many prestigious awards. He has published articles and served as a reviewer in high impact international journals. He has taught at University of New South Wales. He has also accomplished a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and worked as a lecturer/trainer at North Metropolitan TAFE. He has continuously updated himself by participating in courses like ‘Instructional Leadership’ and ‘Facilitate e-learning’. He is proficient in using the Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard, Moodle and Electromeet. Milind has expertise in face-to-face, blended and online delivery modes. Milind has developed novel engineering experiments which he regularly demonstrates at various engineering exhibitions. He is currently teaching at UWA in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
In terms of Industry experience, Milind had been working in the gear manufacturing industry where he supervised the production of more than 25 types of gears and gearbox components including spur, helical and bevel gears. He was responsible for the commissioning and maintenance of gear hobbing and shaping machines. Milind has immense interest and expertise in subject areas like Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical design and industrial Hydraulics/Pneumatics. Milind was a part of an engineering consultancy team working on vibration based condition monitoring projects as well as design and troubleshooting of Hydraulics and Pneumatics projects. Milind had exclusively developed a ‘Vibration Test Rig’ for the Dynamics laboratory which was used for in-situ balancing of rotary parts and vibration testing with the help of a FFT Analyser. This test rig was useful in developing and appending some novel experiments for some subjects. Milind’s PhD project over last 5 years was also with some engineering industries affiliated with Australian government’s CRC (Cooperative Research Centre). This industry project focused mainly on condition monitoring of machines using vibration analysis. Milind has used advanced software like MATLAB to simulate and predict machine trends which were confirmed using a special experimental rig designed by him using a National Instruments data acquisition system. The work carried out during this industry project has been recognised nationally and internationally and received many awards.
